The purpose of a quinceañera is to celebrate a young girl’s 15th birthday and acts as a cultural rite of passage showing that the girl is growing up. The event highlights personal growth, family bonds, and community.  Although the ceremony (blessing) takes place in a church, guests do not need to be Catholic to attend.
